    Wait a minute….

In TV show production, children’s working hours are limited by law…. the younger the child, the less time allowed.

So a baby or toddler is usually portrayed by twins or triplets, so they can replace one another during the filming of a whole episode.

I didn’t think those legal protections extended to the “actors” in comic strips, though.

I admit to being a bit out of the loop on Batman lore…. Is there some other reason Bruce Wayne is being played by two babies?

Dick Grayson is at least 20 years younger than Bruce Wayne!

I hope Batman wasn’t still in a crib wearing diapers when Robin was born!

If Batman (and Robin and Superman) were their actual ages, they WOULD be wearing diapers today!

In one story (I think it was in World’s Finest comics in the early 70s), Batman tries to keep Superman out of a case they’re investigating together because the suspect is his previously unknown brother, Thomas Wayne Jr., who has been in an institution. Never referred to again, so far as I know, and not really a significant part of Batman lore.

Despite the caption, the cartoon has a bat-signal (which wouldn’t have existed when Bruce Wayne was an infant), so I can only assume the babies are really Batman and Robin. In keeping with the campy TV show, the guest villain of the week must have used his secret weapon to turn them into babies (“Batman! The Babymaker is on the loose again!”) Never fear! Alfred (or perhaps Batgirl) will be along to rescue them and turn them back into themselves using the Bat-baby-restoration machine in the Batcave. Tune in tomorrow, same bat-time, same bat-channel!

This appears in my daily newspaper (yes, I still read the print newspaper!) in black and white and it made no sense why there are two babies. Looking at the color version didn’t help until I blew it up and saw the subtle green tint to the other baby’s diaper. So yeah, even though it makes no sense, agewise, I guess it is Robin with him.

In the TV show Batman was always being hyper-dramatic with his “To the Batmobile!” and of course, Robin was always there with him. So on its own terms this makes sense. (Besides, those babies just look so darn cute!)

I guess there have been enough robins that the first could’ve been the same age.

I see that they mislabeled ‘poo’ as ‘guano,’ judging by the diapers…

Thanks for all the answers, you guys…Rhonda, I hadn’t noticed the green, which tips the scales towards Robin.

Actually I was just being funny (obviously not very… )about toons having labor laws, so two “actors” play one baby, kinda like the Olsen twins playing Michelle Tanner.

Hmmm…. how many played the twins on Raymond?Actually I think just two cos they usually only showed one, or both very briefly. Are there standby baby toons on the set at Doonebury, or That-a-Baby?
