We don’t have a farm but we have a sprinkler/drip irrigation system installed now and it’s all controlled by a program I set on my computer. So much better than the old days of stretching out the hose and wigwag sprinkler, moving it around every 15 minutes. And mowing the lawn is so much easier with the battery powered mulching mower. No more raking and hauling cuttings or oiling and filling the mower with gas. It used to take an hour or more. Now I do both lawns in 15 minutes. It may not be AI, but automation is good stuff.
Gardening is great exercise if you’re able. I like some automation but still enjoy the “instant gratification” and sense of accomplishment from doing a lot of it myself. I’m heading outside this morning as a matter of fact.
Trying to think how a fully automated farm might work. Planters, weeders, harvesters could be controlled with programs and remotely. Livestock – feed and water dispensed by machinery also? Some advanced programming would be needed to determine pest issues with plants and health issues with livestock. Or just move livestock off the farm to self-contained containment areas?

… except for the house? … or except for all the tasks that his wife does? She’s still doing the dishes by hand.

Said we were born in a barn, the barn my Grandpa built
And every night, we’d come inside, and lie under Grandma’s quilt
Been workin’ this land, workin’ these hands, at least it seems since birth
Been hammerin’ away in a factory, or outside tillin’ the earth
(chorus)
My family works in a factory, my family works on a farm
Thank God for the farm and the factory
Thank the Devil for the factory farm.

Ooh, I had great fun with an A.I. online Helpdesk ‘lady’ a couple of weeks ago. My Bell Labs programmer experience from long-long ago helped.

Artificial intelligences can think (well, sort of), but they can’t do unless we give them effectuators.
