An insider joke for chess players? I wonder how many people get it. My brother was rather avid when we were young (during what may have been the last great American vs Russian matches) and it rubbed off on me some, but then I realized it was a matter of a sort of brute-force memorization and observation, got the short end of a demonstration of that a couple times, and then learned about the computer programming that was developing and confirmed that strategy meant nothing, and lost all interest.
I was surprised to discover that the FIDE Laws of Chess define the movement of the night in a very interesting way: “The knight may move to one of the squares nearest to that on which it stands but not on the same rank, file or diagonal.”
I think the Queen should be flying two kites, one as shown, the other as shown for the bishop. The King should be shown similarly, but with very short strings.

I’m bad at Chess and, unfortunately, watching, ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, on Netflix didn’t help.

Actually, the knights move is one forward and one diagonal or one diagonal and one forward.

The pawn’s kite wasn’t long enough to stay afloat.

I know next to nothing about chess, but I got it. Very clever indeed!
