I sought my last job because, if I worked there ten years, in addition to pension, they paid my insurance (really good insurance) for life and half my wife’s insurance. It also paid a lot more than I had ever made and was a stimulating job with a top organization. But it was the insurance that made me commute for ten years. I would have gotten a pension from anywhere I worked, but the insurance deal was far better than the others.
My goal when I started at MegaCorp was to work a few years to get money for graduate school. That became a running joke at my various anniversary celebrations and ultimately my retirement.

If you were applying for her job, you might get it. Then, she could apply for the CEO’s job and make 20 million a year.

That was always my goal. Work to retire in comfort. I succeeded. (except for the aching body of old age thing – not comfortable)
