We once had a Siamese that my husband adored. It was not unusual for them to ‘carry on conversations’ with each other. I believe they understood what each was saying.
My father-in-law and our late mini-panther, Pepper, used to have long talks in the morning. Pep adored his Poppy and the feeling was mutual :) Neither Sultan nor Sheba do it, at least not yet!
I am reminded of the animated cartoon of the frog that was found in a time capsule when a building was being demolished. It started doing a vaudeville act with top hat and cane…

Boots is our big talker, and like in the comment above he and I have had some long conversations
We might not understand his “words”, but my wife and I both seem to understand what he’s saying a lot of the time
Always makes us laugh when we come up with the same translation at the same time, Boots thinks it’s funny too
