The Buckets by Greg Cravens for July 08, 2011

My brothers built a trebuchet and flung this ice machine into your yard. No kidding? They built that huge thing there? Geez! Don't your folks buy you any toys? Well, sure. Why not just play with those? They did. You're the reason it rained Legos all over the sycamore tree? Can I have an autograph?

Can I have you’re autographs Greg n Richard ?I’m a big fan of both strips, I like it when strips collide. I miss not being able to read the older Bucket strips, though…

I can’t help but wonder if the blue ice machine falling out of the sky was inspired by the chunks of blue ice that do fall out of the sky from time to time.

I miss not being able to search the old strips, too, ineza. And I love signing autographs. As for the blue ice, sottwell, I dunno. frozen airplane lavatory goop falling out of the sky doesn’t inspire me to do much, other than duck and cover.

‘Fling’ is one of those tricky words to conjugate.

Kilbilly made me snort my diet mountain dew. Now I have a little song about flinging ice machines conjugating through my head.

Flong: n. That which is or has been flung, as an ice machine by a trebuchet.“I’m flinging a flong.” “I flung that flong.”

That’s a big sling shot there.

I’ve helped build/fire a treb. It is cool! Ours wasn’t big enough to fling an ice machine though, could only handle about 1 foot diam and 20lbs.

What it meant was hordes of unemployed cartoonists on streetcorners offering to do caricatures of passersby in their own blood- all their ink having been sold or burned for heat. Did the public care? No! The public demanded that the smelly awful people who now littered their streets be sent out of sight. That was the birth of the telemarketing industry. So as you can see, cutbacks in newspapers and cartooning leads to a cultural apocalypse. Fear to dispossess your cartoonists, America! Bewwaaaaaarrrrre.

Comic strip characters are totally documented, in that their entire lives are on paper. Ha. I make the funny.

This one reminds me of an advanced grammar class I took in grad school. While talking about verb conjugations, we figured that since “sing” has the forms of “sing, sang, sung”, then “bring” must be “bring, brang, brung”. To this day, we still say that someone “Done Brang It” when they’ve done something good. :) Thanks for the memories.

We have THE COOLEST conversations going on in The Buckets forums. I found out from the syndicate hotshots yesterday that my online readership has jumped way up from last year. I credit you guys.
