The Buckets by Greg Cravens for September 04, 2015
Transcript:
Guys gold panning was pretty cool, huh? Yeah! Dad, we spent a lot of money today and this gold is worth about three dollars. Were we being stupid? My memories of today don't have a dollar value, Toby. Especially the memory of you yelling I see some and jumping into the sluice. We were stupid.

Ah yes, the inclusive “we” that actually has the “m” upside down.

Again today, I thank the poor souls who color the daily strips for us. I don’t know if Joey is still on Buckets Duty, but if it’s you, dude, thanks for that last panel. There’s not a lot of time to spend on coloring these things, and I hope doing a custom fade didn’t put you out. Thanks!

Sorry boys.

Funny that you mention colorists today. I noticed two coloring errors in two of my daily read comics today. I can imagine how they get so little time per comic to get the job done.

Are there tag-team colorists?

There’s nothing wrong with being a bit stupid every once in a while.
Is this the end of the Alaska storyline now or is there a bit more to come?
I’ll stay tuned.

There are a lot of colorists, yes. Many, many comics to color. And yes, Pacopuddy, there are comic strips that are colored by their creators. I think a lot of the King Features cartoons are creator-colored. Some hotshots probably have their own people do it for them. I came out of the United Media stable, and there was a wonderful deal struck at some point that provided professional coloring of the dailies without the cartoonists doing it themselves. It was, I believe, a sign of the changing times when Newspapers discovered that they could and should do color dailies that sort of grandfathered in and stayed.
