I want sitcoms to quit showing characters hanging out in bars, dating around, and using bad language. It gives people bad ideas. Don't you think the ideas started with people, then got put into sitcoms? No.
I think repeated exposure to the sitcoms’ “outrageous, vile, offensive and just plain bad examples of humanity” shape some viewers’ expectations and influence those watching to the point where those examples becomes more acceptable.
It seems people in other countries think America is exactly like what they see in our movies and TV shows. Makes me wonder how smart they are. OK, not wonder.
W. C. Fields: “Was I in here last night, and did I spend a $20 bill?”Shemp Howard: “Yeah.”W. C. Fields: “Oh boy, what a load that is off my mind… I thought I’d lost it!”
Obviously, you guys are all married and not middleaged. Guys are like that not only on the Internet, but in person. And they’re angry you just won’t do what the want on the first date and angry that they’re lonely. And keep asking why women don’t date any more. Basing your social life and expectations of others to what you see on porn sites and trying to convince strangers to go along with that doesn’t seem to them to be a good reason for women not to volunteer.

Is a sitcom different or just reworked vaudeville and burlesque sketches?
