Tweets go out at, like, the speed of light or so... Sirens are only as fast as the speed of sound. Firetrucks are not going to start tweeting get out of the way instead of using sirens.
Once cars start communicating with each other, emergency vehicles will be able to broadcast their route and you’ll be forced to make way for them. not a bad thing.
What an interesting concept, Greg. Sometimes I have this mental picture of you lurking outside the local playground or teen ‘hotspot’ to get ideas. I know you probably don’t do anything quite so stalker to gather inspiration but don’t correct me – the mental picture is just too cool.
Interesting idea, but obviously impractical in so many ways. How about a device installed in all cars, designed to pick up a signal from an emergency vehicle within a certain range? When it gets that signal, it could light up or beep or both.
Of course, actual sirens are pretty effective. And you can usually get a sense of where they are and whether they’re really nearby, so why mess with what works?

It’s not working with sirens, but it does with earthquakes.
