Some people did complain. I’ve seen Quaker meeting houses with signs announcing the “First Day” services instead of Sunday.

Also, during the French Revolution, the 10 day week was introduced, and the days were named First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Day. Portugal is the only one that kept that, I think, so Monday-Friday are 2nd-6th.

Why would someone complain about that? And if s/he did, how would Twitter “fix it”?

I worked for ten years at a business where I was the only employee that did not attend the local kingdom hall of the Jehovah’s Witnesses

They consider anyone outside their faith to be pagan, so the running joke was that I was the Token Pagan

I posted a Thatababy cartoon suggesting that the days be named after comic book superheroes on Facebook.

Most people laughed but a guy I used to know from church who left it to join a “more committed church” went ballistic about the idea of naming the days after fictional characters being idolatry. I could not convince him that naming the days after modern fictional heroes would be less idolatrous than pagan deities.

Quakers haven’t been using the names of the days or the months from the beginning. January 1st would be “1st day of the 1st month.”

Some people would complain if they were hanged with a new rope and buried in a gold coffin…
