Those are fun when you’re 6, or 8, or 10, because you still like spending time with your parents and you’re still not expected to take responsibility for much of anything.
When my brother was in the scouts, his troop had a camp out. This was in Chicago and the camp out was in a nearby park, so my father and I could just walk over there. No one had to pack anything to stay there, except the scouts, of course.

What a concept. A campout in July, not February, in Upstate NY, which is when we had our Webelo’s campout. To this day, I won’t go camping.
