My days off are usually split and I’m on the rare second day of two in a row off

Work won’t call, and I would not answer if they did

Was just getting used to my wife doing four 10-hr days and she’s back on 8-hour days this week and the next because of the holidays.

We had to work the day before and the day after the holiday in order to get paid for that holiday.

Most places I worked (engineering companies) shut down for all of Christmas week, unless there was a rush project for early January.

That surprised voice will come in handy when your boss informs you for failing to come in or call in sick on a scheduled work day you’re either suspended or let go.

I always took vacation time for the holiday so I didn’t have to worry about this happening.

I work in a medical office and call this “no show” week. Everyone thinks it’s a great idea to have a doctor appointment the week the kids are out of school or they are off work. Then, life gets busy and guess what gets forgotten.
