They really should reissue the “I Never Cooked Before” cookbook.

When my younger sister was around 10 years old, to warm soup from a can, she would dump it into a pan, turn the dial on High and walk away for a couple of minutes. She never did understand why her pans were always hard to clean, with all of the burnt stuff on the bottom.

And the ever popular, “saute onions until transparent, approximately 1 minute.” 15 minutes later …

Don’t apply to Johnson & Wales University when it’s time to choose.

Welcome to cooking. Even with recipes, sometimes things just don’t work out. Also, learn to clean up as you go.

Looks like my kitchen after my husband cooks. He’s a great cook, but destroys the kitchen in the process.

I was in the Boy Scouts™ and got stuck scraping a 1/8th inch thick layer of charred chocolate pudding out of the bottom of the pot with a spoon (it was the most effective tool we had) until I learned the Law Of The Boy Scout Kitchen. Cooks ( particularly good ones) Do Not pull KP. I knew some cooking and had my mom teach me more. By the time I got Cooks duty, I was pretty good (considering the audience) and never pulled KP again. Yeah, I know it sounds like some sort of hokey fairy tale. But it is true.

This is why my personal cookbook is full of notes after the first time I try them.
