Oh yeah! We had one of those when I was a kid, and I have mine now.

Have you considered a washable slipcover?

We’ve had the same black leather sofa for the past 20+ years. The leather looks a bit saggy along the back, but even with 2 parrots it’s holding up well. (They chew the corners, given the chance, and poop down the back and sides – we thwart their efforts with throw-blankets and baby wipes for the messes). I doubt we will need to replace it for many years yet. :D

That reminds me, I need to vacuum under mine.

Throw Pillows. Short for ugly-throw-away-pillows. Which no one ever does, instead buys less repugnant pillowcases. Which never really fit.

I am not sitting around the Grand Canyon just to see if I can make a dent.

This is a relatable couch

I got a recliner a few months back

My wife took over my spot, and the 4 cats take turns filling in the rest

Mine is 50 years old, has been recovered three or four times and rebuilt twice. It goes with my antiques and I like it a lot more than anything I can buy these days. Everything looks like it came from IKEA.

I brought home an immaculate 60 year old sofa from my grandmothers and the cat rendered it trash worthy in 6 months.

Hidden toe breaker! Been the done that! Little toe still hurts and it’s been over a year since I broke the dang thing.

This is hilarious and so true! That’s all I’m going to say.

A thorough cleaning, THEN a slipcover, if you MUST keep the couch. Look for a couch at the local Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity’s warehouse. Your couch may start looking better to you then.
