Our backyard was at various times a prison camp, the Hekawi village (a yard across the street was Fort Courage), a venue for treasure hunts, and various battlefields, especially the sandbox (which was also an archaeological site and a frequent flood zone). Blankets over the clothesline formed a tent. The front yard was a ballfield and (with other yards) a frisbee golf course.
