My tv has been out since Saturday. So, I have saved some old time radio shows (Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons), on my Kindle. I used to listen to that show on the radio when I was a little girl. I loved radio back in the day. I’ll get the tv back this week but, it’s been fun listening to the radio shows.
Back before radio and phonograph people used to buy sheet music and learn how to play it. No joke — around the turn of the 20(th) century the sheet music business was a huge industry (“Tin Pan Alley”). People would play piano, violin, flute, whatever and entertain themselves. Much like what happened with sports, however, mass media put an end to this as you could be entertained on the cheap by people with far more talent than yourself (and without having to invest the time in becoming proficient at reading and playing music).

It’s nice to see the generational gap bridged like that.

Most of my life I didn’t need WiFi or a Phone. Now I can’t go without either.

It is frustrating when internet or cable go out, but as long as I have light I can still read

When the Wi-Fi goes out you can still watch TV or read a book. Or even listen to the radio.
Decades ago, when the TV went out you could still read a book or listen to the radio.
Before then, if the radio went out you could still read a book.
Centuries earlier, if the storyteller had laryngitis you could… I don’t know, die of smallpox or something.

As a kid.. up to 13.. I recall with fondness the time it takes for our two mantle gas lantern to fade to nothing.

Anyone remember “Let’s Pretend?” On Saturday morning? I was very little, but I remember it. Good times

It’s nice to remember the old days, just glad I don’t have to relive the old days.

Oh, they cared, Eddie! Someone would start miming he was stuck in a box or pulling a rope and the townspeople would have a fit.
