When we were looking to move, No. 1 on the list was “No HOA”. We cut down a dozen mature pines and planted 22 fruit and nut trees, 25+ berry bushes, built a greenhouse and have potted vegetables down both sides of the driveway. Got a few hazelnuts and some plums this year. Next year the bounty starts.
Do any of you remember the movie “The Desperate Hours”?
Short version – criminals who have escaped from prison take over a family’s home (with the family in it) to hide out until they can complete their escape.
When I saw this movie as child my parents explained me that the criminals had picked this house as the boy had left his bicycle outside (which they actually had done) as they knew that parents will do anything to protect their children, so if they threatened the children the parents would go along with them. (Remember – this was their explanation of the movie when I was maybe 10 years old.) So we should never leave our things lying about outside as it showed children lived in the house and that they (my parents) would do anything to protect us.
So, that mess is just inviting Humphrey Bogart and his co-horts to come and take the family hostage and he should get it cleaned up.
