There is nothing good on television! With so many channels and niche networks, it’s all become so diluted that the quality of most shows is terrible and not worth the time. (And the awful, cheesy ads…)
The only time I am subjected to ads on TV is when I watch Auburn sporting events at my shut-in buddy’s house (he has the sports networks). They’re not as bad with the volume all the way down. Still obnoxious, but much easier to ignore.
I chose a random one hour period during the evening and used a stopwatch just to see what the balance of commercial time to program content time might be. It came up 17 minutes of the hour was commercial advertising. That’s bad enough but during that ad time, the same commercials kept reappearing. Time after time after time after time. That exacerbates the situation to an entirely new level.
The good stuff is behind a paywall of some sort. I only pay for things I want to see but do so willingly and selectively. I cannot recall a single commercial from the last several years.
Morosely flipping through the umpteen channels we have access to (many repeats) and bemoaning the lack of anything watchable, I wondered what we did when I was a kid and we only had four channels. And then I remembered: Oh, yeah! I had a LIFE! sigh.

There are more commercials than the program. It’s ridiculous!

Looks like “Barney Fife” from the Andy Griffith Show. Now, THAT was funny!
