How did the professor get there. I have never seen him drive. Did those birders just go and leave him behind. Maybe Dusty but the professor was in like company!
I agree with Joe Allen that the Professor is surely not far from home. But if he doesn’t know the way, and has no “woods sense,” he might as well be on the moon.
I think it’s funny that he’s trying to recall some useful maxim of Dusty’s, and all he can retrieve is a nugget of his trademark warped wisdom. Ain’t that always the way….

Poor professor. He’s just misunderstood and abandoned. And now he’s going to be eaten by wolves or werewolves or sucked dry by vampires.
