Farewell Elderberries. A decent comic.

I will miss the Elderberries, it is and soon will have been one of the few comics I talk to my grandmother about on a daily basis.

I am in tears to see this comic end. It was one of the few let that still makes me laugh.

I found this all to late.I imprinted with this comic and now I loose,again.

when this comic was first introduced to my newspaper comics page i was not impressed with it at all, but i gave it a chance. i fast learned to like it. like it a lot. i am going to miss it and i also hope it goes into reruns. i would like to reread it from the start.i wish you luck with future endeavors Mr. Randolph, and i hope our paths cross again some daythank you.

I was wondering why the theme from that TV show popped into my head yesterday.

An open letter to Corey Pandolph. Sir, I had the pleasure of stumbling across your work during the first run of Barkeater Lake. I recognized so many familiar elements in that strip, it really spoke to me. For example, I have been in many places in the Adirondacks where a dog will go from table to table, albeit not an anthropomorphic dog, but I could see where you got the inspiration for Banks. … Soon, I was making daily visits to barkeaterlake.com and eventually fakerockstar.com for everything Pandolph. Many times I wished I could have given large sums in the "tip jar " on bl’s webpage to show my appreciation for what was obviously a labor of love. I said all that to say this. The comics world is a little smaller to me as you end your strip work. Your work will join other past favorites like "The Far Side ", "Bloom County ", "Calvin and Hobbs ", "Liberty Meadows " and “The Humble Stumble” as some of the very best that the comic strip media has to offer. Thanks for making me laugh and good luck in your future endeavors, Corey!

I know it’s just a parasocial relationship, but I kinda feel like a friend just died.

At our house, we’re very sad to see Elderberries go. Not only did Mr. Pandolph do a fine job, but he kept alive the memory of Phil Frank and his whimsical storytelling style.Good luck in your next strip. We’ll be reading.

Never mourn the passing of a good friend. Celebrate the fact that they were a part of you life, for as long as they were.

this is cute. I never saw that movie but now I wish I had.

I was a major fan of Phil Frank, who alas passed away a few years ago. When I moved to San Francisco, his “Farley” strips helped me learn a lot about the City. When he started Elderberries, I started reading that strip as well. And now, alas, it joins other great strips that have ended. I very much will miss it.

I’m getting to that stage in life that, “I don’t like changes.”.This is another example. I know all things come to an end, but this one I will miss.

Thanks for the times you’ve given up to entertain us and I hope your next endeavor is successful.

Good luck Corey. I will miss this very well thought out comic. You always managed to get a chuckle out of me every time I read this crews misadventures

I’ll miss this strip. When it debuted locally I was kind of puzzled as to why I should care about it. That the charming quirkiness of the characters should make me into a fan is a testament to Pandolph’s skill with crafting characters you care about and a sense for truly funny situations to put them in. Who knew that a joke about an old Cold Warrior wooing the Last Surviving Soviet and coming to a detente before the end would work in 2012, or have so much heart? In the end, I cared about every one of the characters, and am fondly imagining post-strip lives in which they all get what they fondly want.

And the way the two central characters were played off, in a note-perfect riff on that iconic TV sitcom? I can hardly remember a strip which ended on such a witty, classy note.

I will miss Pandolph’s Elderberries.

Thank you for giving it a dignified ending. Will miss it terribly.

So so sad to say good bye to this great strip.
