When we were kids, my brother learned how to make homemade smoke bombs, which we produced in our basement. Ah, those home chemistry sets we used to buy! We also bought rolls of caps and re-worked them into credible explosives which possibly damaged my hearing a bit. In those days (late 60s/early 70s), it was hard for a kid to get ahold of real fireworks, so we made do.
When I was 10 we left Minnesota to visit our cousins in San Diego. We went to Tijuana and while the parents were ogling the tourist junk, my 10 yr old cousin took me to a place that sold dynamite. We bought a stick (it was really cheap). Back in San Diego, we planted it in a hillside and blew it up. What fun!

We do not allow fireworks to be set off here in Paradise Valley. Wild fire is too strong a possibility.

No military surplus ones. However, some might call them Blockbusters though….

The head of the HOA can’t be calling — that was his house where the crater is.
