The last Ed Sullivan show aired June 6, 1971, so the youngest it could be would be 41 years, 1 month.
I love it — I wish TV sets could do that. And the look on Pierpont’s face is priceless.

I saw a newspaper story about the NBC-Jay Leno feud that referred to Ed Sullivan as a talk show host. There probably hasn’t been a variety show on TV in the writer’s lifetime.
I bet the commercials are hillarious…. ! ! !
