Not baseball, but I remember my son’s football coach saying the football equivalent of minor league games were the ones to go to, because you can hear the calls and how the players interact with each other.

We had a friend visiting from north Jersey, and though it was a nice day we didn’t want to drop the cash on the local attractions (Mystic Seaport, Aquarium, etc.) so we took him to the local ballgame, at the time a AAA Yankees affiliate. As a Yankees fan, he was thrilled and we had a great time. Missed seeing Darryl Strawberry— he was there for a bit recovering from an injury. Now the team is a short-season affiliate of the Detroit Tigers (and on the bubble, AFAICT).

Back when we took family road trips with the kids, we were always on the lookout for minor league ballparks & local hot dog stands.

We used to live two blocks from the local AA Mets affilate. Every Friday home game was (still is) followed by fireworks. The kids hated the noise but I loved the colors.

Grew up going to the Denver Bears (later Denver Zephyrs) playing at Bears Stadium, AKA Mile Hi Stadium. When Denver got the Rockies, they moved to New Orleans.
