Finally after 41 years people on SS will be getting a fairly decent raise, but it will be gobbled up by the high inflation were having, and of course the usual Medicare increse. The FICA EARNINGS TAX CAP, needs to be eliminated so benefits can be increased by at least $200 a month.
Since the SS COLA is based on past inflation, it already got “gobbled up up”. Repeating every thread on the subject: It was never intended to be someone’s only source of income in retirement.
Why would you expect that if you have struggled your whole life just to reach old age, that it will now be easier. My MIL who died in August was one of the lucky last retirees who actually had a pension and didn’t work for the auto industry and even they are eliminating or buying you out.
