For those unfamiliar with this Guy, Guy Fawkes was involved in the failed 1605 “Gunpowder Plot” to restore Catholic rule to Britain by blowing up Parliament with the King and all the Protestant leadership. The event is celebrated in Britain and some former colonies with fireworks, bonfires, and the burning of an effigy of Fawkes which became known as the Guy. This gave rise to the use of “guy” to mean just some guy.
