We used to have a train operator like that. My favorite was when he got on the PA while we were parallel to one of the major streets and told people on that side of the train: “choose a car on the street, wave your arms to get their attention and point at their tires. By the time they stop and figure out nothing’s wrong, we’ll be long gone”
If you couldn’t guess from this week’s strips, I love the CTA. I actually look forward to riding it whenever I get to Chicago because it means I literally don’t have to drive anywhere. There’s a blue line stop a quarter mile from the Rosemont convention center and the hotel we usually stay in, and everything downtown is within a stone’s throw of a station of one line or another.
However, while the blue line is a joy to ride, sometimes I think that the red line is run by Charon and the fare should be two copper pennies.

Pab: “…and everything downtown is within a stone’s throw of a station of one line or another.”
“Every lot is just a stone’s throw from the station. As soon as we throw enough stones, we’re going to build a station.”
(and my favorite: “You can get any kind of siding. You can even get stucco. Oh, how you can get stucco!”

Hey Pab,
I’m a born and breed Chicagoian. The CTA fir all it’s faults is still a great system, especially considering what they charge for parking downtown!
