And yet if just one of those historical moments were different, Al Gore would never have invented the Internet! so where would I be making this comment?
What color is the sky in your universe? Because it’s blue in mine, which is a universe where Obama rammed through a health care bill earlier this year despite a majority of Americans being rather vehemently opposed to it.
What’s next? A week of strips about how George W. Bush is just too much of an intellectual? Or about how tiresome Bill Clinton is because of his relentless chastity?
A large chunk of the people who opposed the health bill (and I’m one) oppose it because it didn’t go far ENOUGH in dismantling the for-profit health insurance industry. Or at least give us the public option. But Obama ruled out single-payer and now we find out the public option before negotiations ever started. THAT is weakness and waffling. Shoot for the moon and settle for the stratosphere. THAT is how you negotiate. He shot for ten feet off the ground and had to settle for six inches.
I am not a fan of Prsident Obama’s. I did not and would not vote for him, but I think that the recent strips slamming him are totally inaccurate in implying that he is indecisive and ineffective.
The full text of the health care bill is available on many sites; for example http://www.opencongress.org/bill/all. No excuse for calling it Obamacare or talking about its contents unless you’ve read it.
Yeah, I reluctantly admit the dude could have either tried harder or played it differently. But he’s all we got to stand up to the, um, unusual candidates of the GOP. If you want to get angry at anybody for the state we find ourselves in, blame the two independents that sided with the GOP on everything. The Dems never had more than 58 votes. The independents just caucused with them, so people assumed the filibuster could be overcome. The independents were the difference, and they broke conservative. It is a shame that you have to have sixty or more votes in the senate, for literally everything. Kinda silly if you ask me..
Equal opportunity offending is fine, but I continue to respect Obama for what he’s done. We haven’t kept recent previous leaders under such a magnifying glass, as far as I can tell, and we’ve expected miracles from this one. I would be proud to vote for him again in 2012.

Com(post)promise Prez. Now if only Hilary would lend him her set of brass ones, the next two years might be interesting.

A good man. Too bad he can’t grow a pair. Hillary would have been a ball buster as Prez.

The actual bill was a Republican bill, fenngibbon, and it was still getting shot down by the GOP. Contemplate why…

Yuup, if he’d just send the Praetorian Guard wiith flamethrowers to the Senate chamber the way the Constitution requires.
ChukLitl Premium Member about 14 years ago
Not flamethrowers, Biden. The only job constitutionally required of the Vice President is to preside over the Senate.
