Wikipedia reports: ”Critics of El Al note that its security checks on passengers include racial profiling and have argued that such profiling is unfair, irrational, and degrading to those subject to such screening. Supporters of El Al argue that there is nothing inherently racist about passenger profiling and that special scrutiny of Muslims may often be necessary for security purposes.”
Score one for the Israelis. I wish we would implement such procedures, instead of forcing the innocent, the elderly and infirm, and children to degrading and unconstitutional invasions. The TSA has its head so far up its a.ss that they have to look up to look down.
I had to take someone to the airport on Tuesday. I saw No PAT-DOWNS, EVERYONE used the scanner, no problem. The TSA folks were polite, and there were boxes of blue Surgical gloves avaliable.
I don’t know whether the line was written by Chuck Jones or Dr. Seuss, but to whichever wrote the line, I owe my love of using the word “euphemism” as a euphemism.
@ TheDOCTOR - because the statements about the “harmless level” of the x-rays from the scanners are being made by those with a strongly vested interest in selling more scanners to more airports, please forgive me my skepticism about the neutrality and veracity of those same statements. I do NOT condone the use of any level of Roentgens on my body by my government; I shall continue to exercise my own choice on who is allowed to pat me down and under what circumstances; and therefore I continue not to patronize commercial airlines.

No offense, Your Majesty, but I’m pretty sure I don’t want to see your euphemisms…

The pat downs are useless for security and a violation of the Constitution. The Israelis have a better way.

It’s been pointed out that the gloves TSA screeners wear are for their protection and aren’t changed after each use.
