Oh, am I glad to read this….hysterical! French Canadians have been complaining and whining for decades, no, CENTURIES about the “Evil English” who are trying to “assimilate” the POOR, poor french….what a load of cr@p…Please bear in mind, I am french Canadian myself. But one with eyes open to the world, and not living in my own little fantasy french-exclusive world…

I’d like to see Canada give Quebec what it wants…. shut the borders, pull all government funding and facilities, and let the separatists see how well they can manage on their own. Memories of centuries-old glory don’t have much relevance to the modern world.

Have to agree. Only in Canada? – pity.

I got a chuckle out of this. At time of writing, the Bloc Quebecois – with only Quebec members but forming a federal party (only in Canada, eh?) – were decimated in the last federal election, with only 4 seat in the House, down from about 25.Plus, the Parti Quebecois, the provincial part of Quebec which in the past held two referenda on separation, has recently had at least 4 top level members leave the party. In very general terms they don’t see leader Pauline Marois’ leadership as current or ‘tuned in’. I think your average person on the street doesn’t much care – it’s the power people that get riled up.If you can find it, there is a book by American Lansing Lamont called “Breakup”, published in about 2001. It’s a fictional but factual picture of what could happen if Quebec separated. Interesting read. Check it out.

Not only was it hard for HRM to lug all that territory, but she had to put up with French taunters every step of the way.

Now I got the “Toot Sweets” song from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” worming into my ear.

In light of recent events, perhaps “British Columbia” would be more appropriate.

Go Bruins! The losers in Vancouver can steal your spotlight but not your class.

There’s nothing wrong with ending a sentence with a preposition in English. That comes from idiot academics trying to force the rules of Latin onto the English language.
