I don’t see a problem with this. The mere mention of a TV show’s name or the killing off of characters should be no cause to remove or modify the strip. Have we allowed ourselves to become that P.C. that to even mention events causes us to run screaming for the blue pencil?
some years ago, garfield had a strip of the cat killing a spider around veterans day. veterans groups were pissed. but, garfield people said they create the strips long before veterans day, and it was a coincidence/scheduling. besides, killing off characters is not limited to game of thrones, look at downton abbey.
The editorial staff dropped the ball here. It probably (hopefully) is a coincidence that the strip mentions killing off characters on Glee soon after a Glee actor is found dead in his hotel room. The editor should have made the decision to pull the strip and run at a different time. It’s not about being politically correct. It’s about being human.
I considered pulling this strip after the weekend, but I couldn’t part with the rest of the week’s storyline, which has nothing to do with “Glee.” Now, if the maker of “Candy Land” dies tomorrow in a horrible Jeep accident, I might have to pull the story.
I did this week and next week in advance in preparation for taking a trip to visit family in Western New York where internet access is spotty at best.
Since you have done such a wonderful job with eliminating your characters in the Game of Thrones series, I was wondering if you could apply your talents to the entire cast of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”?
I haven’t seen Glee for awhile but I remember Finn was 1 of the more likeable characters on Glee. The timing of today’s strip was indeed unfortunate. RIP Corey Montieth.
I’m going to guess that the editorial staff of any newspapers that run this strip probably spotted the bad timing and pulled the comic but Universal UClick wouldn’t be be that vigilant.

I was hoping it was Teletubbies.

Has to be an unfortunate coincidence. The strip’s lead time must be a couple of weeks at least.

I’m guessing this line is going to be dropped as quickly as possible…

Sorry to be ignorant but I’m unfamiliar with England’s history. Who is the man with the Queen?

Could have switched it to Fox News. Can’t go wrong with that punch line.

I need to say though, that if this comic had been on purpose, it would have been the awfullest, funniest comic I had ever read.

Game of Thrones meets Glee? I wonder how that plot line would work out….

@kentchin – that is Prince Albert, Victoria’s son. There is an urban legend that he might have been Jack the Ripper.
He was named Edward Albert, though he came to be called Albert or Bertie.

While I agree Glee is odious, this is kinda tasteless in light of recent obits.

The Jack-the-Ripper myth is about his son, Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale.
