In case anyone doubts the times have changed, in the 1950s I saw a black-face minstrel show put on as a fund-raiser for an Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. The fact that there’s a way still to go shouldn’t obscure that we’ve come a long way.
“But gosh mum, all the other governors are doin’ it…” Some comments have indeed proven there’s a very, very long way to go. A lot of comments like those are usually followed by “but I’m not racist” and/or “I have a friend who’s…” That long way to go would be much shorter if people would quit taking gigantic steps backwards.

As a child, our golliwog was just a doll. We loved it, played with it, and it provided comfort while we went to sleep.

I just watched ‘Victoria and Her Nine Children’. I prefer the Victoria in this strip, she is actually funny sometimes.
