Can you try to upgrade to magnetic tape?

You boot from 78s? Mine boots from Edison cylinders! But that’s still an upgrade from . . . nah, I got nuthin’.

Sure it would run faster, if you could get the drivers. I understand that requires buying the six LP box set. Maybe upgrade to punch cards?

My vote is for laser discs. There must be a pile of them somewhere.

And that was our Monday trip down memory lane.

We had an old computer in my office, with a 5.25 inch floppy slot. One of the younger employees was not familiar with floppy discs and stuck a CD-ROM in there. It was not easy to remove.

My SSD failed this weekend, Recovered my Pro Tools sessions, but what a scare…

Do a lateral technology transition to player piano rolls, then punch cards, and then upgrade from there.

I have a little collection of “ancient” computer technology, including an iron-core memory module, some 80-column punch cards, a couple of 9" IBM floppy disks, a reae of 9-track magnetic tape (3420), one of the original 18-track 3480 tape cartridges, the operator console head from an AMDAHL mainframe, and other stuff. I’m looking for a technology museum to donate it to.

You can only boot DOS from a 78 rpm record. There is not enough storage for anything else.

As an IT guy, I can say with some authority that a .45 is a sure fix for an old computer.
