When my oldest was tiny, he was reluctant to poop in the potty. I brought home a toy truck I knew he’d love and said “when you poop in the potty you can have it.” He was still reluctant.
One day, he pulled out his constant companion (a stuffed bear puppet) and held it over the toilet and said “poop! poop!” and I said “yay! The bear gets the truck!”
Shortly after he pooped! That should have been the happy ending, but we were just finishing a vacation in Canadia and driving back to VA. Every thirty minutes on the drive, he said “I have to poop” and we had to find a gas station where he did not poop. We’d still be driving but he fell asleep somewhere in PA.
