Birth control goes for people, too. Thanks to antibiotics and modern medicine(and those that go and cure people in poor countries), we have a big problem in this world.Add to that the change of climate(man-made or not), they will be much suffering in the next century.
At least it looks like the human population will peak at somewhere around 9 billion, thanks to factors such as improved education for women, decreases in infant mortality (people have more children if they worry that most of them will die before adulthood). However, I certainly haven’t heard any happy stories about the decreases in the numbers of companion animals that are being killed solely for the crime of existing.
Ahem, I like cats and dogs on TV, but can’t have them in my house – I’m allergic plus I don’t want to clean up after them. And by the way, doesn’t that apply to pets in comic strips, too????
I don’t get it either. There are all sorts of perfect-looking, young people in those commercials also—but they must be in people shelters somewhere, because the people I see on the streets and malls are nowhere near as good looking.

Very astute observation in today’s strip. My last two kitties were adopted from local shelters.
