Thinning out the forest is a good thing, but clear cutting changes the whole ecology. Any good farmer rotates his crops and is a wise steward of the land. Planting 2000 acres of clear cut land with seedlings is not the same, it will take 40 years to be a forest again, that is only if some bug doesn’t destroy the whole crop.
We live in a temperate rainforest. So those that clear cut are required (at least here in BC) to leave some waste on the floor. To go along with the tree replanting. Trees need nurseries.
