The projectionist for chain theaters set up everything to run automatically and are not on the premises. If the movie breaks down (even digital ones have problems apparently) they come in and announce that a projectionist is being sent.
We go to a classic films screening every week on Monday afternoons. If the film is more than 90 minutes the pretitle show starts over the film as it is automatic and they can’t stop it.

Are there actual projectionists any more? I thought the minimum-wage kids just stuck the reel into the slot and pushed a button.
