My dachshund found a nest of four newborn squirrels in a nest in a flower bed (I still don’t know how or why they were on the ground) and killed them all before I could do anything about it. I felt really bad about that but couldn’t blame the dog for doing what she was bred to do.
Does anybody know anything about nesting habits of squirrels? Are they born on the ground to prevent falling from trees? Anyone? Anyone?
