Whatever you just don’t grab their apples – they hate it when you grab their apples. How would you like it if someone grabbed your apples? And dogs can tell what kind of tree it is by their bark!
For years, my neighbor would spend one day cleaning the leaves out of a large flower bed and the next two days shoveling mulch into it. I finally worked it into the conversation that the leaves provided better protection for his plants than the mulch, since they are fluffy and hold air, making them good insulation. He argued that the leaves looked messy and the mulch neat, but I noticed that the last couple years the leaves have been quietly rotting away in that bed and the plants are doing better because of the nutrients they supply.
A salesman at Home Depot stopped me to talk about solar panels on the roof. I told him they wouldn’t work for me because I have too many trees blocking the sun. “That’s OK”, he said, “we’ll take them down for you.” I responded that then I wouldn’t have the shade that keeps my house so cool in the summer and would have to spend more for air conditioning. He finally agreed with me and I went on my way.
I’ll have to stroll a couple blocks and see my old friend in the schoolyard. It was a lo-o-ong time ago when I played under its shade at recess. It was a large tree then and even though weather has trimmed it in places it is still a large tree. Somewhere in time it lost its companion but I wasn’t here then.

We don’t appreciate our trees enough, I guess.

I love trees in the summer with all their green leaves, but,I also love them in winter without their leaves ~~ they are so picturesque!
