I totally understand. I was on a date once and the guy (whom I barely knew) snatched a few bites off of my plate. But darn, growling and biting is so unladylike!
My cousins came to visit us with their dog. Dog goes over to the cat’s food and begins to sniff it. Cat sees this and marches over to the dog and food. Cat didn’t lay a paw on the dog, but he (the cat) arched his back, fluffed up his tail, and hissed. Dog got the message and ran and hid. Dog was afraid of cats until his dying day.

Clear case of defending one’s property. Case dismissed.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client was merely exercising Florida’s castle doctrine.

Excessive use of force. A growl and fake out would have sufficed.
