The genius of Teddy Roosevelt (among others) was to set aside land to preserve at least some of the wilderness. Without that, developers would have built over every square inch of this land.

It’s what happened to my little farming village. Surrounded by Urban Sprawl. Sad.

What’s a mall? I haven’t been to one in a decade, and they are trying to figure out what to do with one I used to go to. When Sears left, I was done with it! I have no real go to place for car batteries and tires. AAA brought us a battery during the pandemic and our nine-year-old car has only 30K miles and has the original tires.

My acre + of land is next to Army Corps lake and will never be built up. I dread the day I can’t handle the yard work and have to move to something smaller.

Thinking of all the people who live on a lake side and plant non native grass and lay pavement to the shore line. Built a raised patio with lighting and a bass ladden sound system, next to their dock and boat house. Then get all excited when there is a rare appearance of actual wildlife.

The way malls are headed there will soon be more than one dandelion growing there.

Look out the window the next time you fly. You don’t see the wilderness because you never get off the highway. It’s actually all over the place.
