    Because even though — chemically speaking — coco lauryl sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate are practically the same thing, one directly derives from coconut oil, so it meets the criteria of getting “plant-based” labels.

    Also, the plant-based label is designed to distinguish products that strict vegan consumers can buy, without having to worry if they are accidentally using or eating animal-based or animal-derived things.
