Man1: It makes sense that a man with absolutely no background in Science would see right through 150 years of analysis and experimentation. Man 1: Some people would have done even the most cursory inquiry- perhaps a Google search - before dismissing an entire branch of science based on wholly ill informed question. - Thank God you didn't Man1: Funny! I thought monkeys, and I thought of humans evolving from monkeys, but I never connoted the two! Only your mind could hold both concepts simultaneously! Man1: Now Please, Mr Smythe . An excellent illustration of the Dunning-Kruger effect..The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which relatively unskilled persons suffer illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability to be much higher than it really is. Dunning and Kruger attributed this bias to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their own ineptitude and evaluate their own ability accurately.
