The swallowing-spiders story is a myth.

Most of the time that story is about swallowing spiders while you are sleeping. What spider is going to be dumb enough to crawl down your throat while you are asleep?

Me no like Spider.

Thankfully, the “swallowing spiders while asleep” is a myth. Look up “snopes swallowing spiders”. The short version is that in 1993, a columnist wrote about how quickly myths spread via the internet, and how they were believed, simply because they were on the internet. The columnist made up her own list of “facts”; the spider one included. Talk about irony!

I suggest the artist actually research this topic. The four sites I just looked at to refresh my memory include Scientific America and Britannica and all say this is extremely unlikely.
