Most hotel rooms come with complimentary noise of some kind.
I was lucky, just returned from a long trip (Egypt) and had quiet rooms all along, for a change. No such luck with the airplanes, where I was surrounded by crying babies and screaming brats on two flights, including one overnight flight.
