Wow, mints on pillows. Actually, most hotels I used to stay at left chocolate, not mints.
But I can’t remember the last time I’ve had either. And turn-down service seems to be ancient history as well. It used to be standard in nice hotels for a housekeeper to come in the evening and turn down the bed and place clean robes and slippers on the bed (and chocolates) and put fresh towels in the bathroom and empty the trash.
A quaint touch from my earlier travels: A lady would leave her nightgown out, and the morning maid would fold it and put it under the pillow. Then at the turn down in the evening, the maid would lay the nightgown out on the bed.
