From what I have heard and read, tire swings are a no-go with millennial parents, too dangerous blah blah. Yet another example of how the fun of being a kid is being drained away. Personally, I had a blast on the one at my house. Spin sessions galore!
I love Wallace’s dad, but I’m having trouble imagining pulling up a trap with a waterlogged tire attached to it, let alone the tire being attached to the trap well enough to make it to the surface without falling off. I think he was actually making some extra $$ for Christmas presents digging clams and found it on the flats, but he doesn’t want to answer questions about why he was clamming.
I’m so glad for the escape from reality of the comic strip world. In my world – see michaeljames42’s comment above, one of the neighborhood kids falls and bumps his head, the parents sue Wallace’s Dad, their lawyer claims traumatic brain injury, and after a hundred thousand dollars in defense and expert costs (not kidding here folks) the case settles for $20,000 which is ten times what it is worth but the cost to defend it is eating you alive.
