This is one of those proclamations that is often repeated, sometimes differently attributed. But I’m pretty sure that this is the original (with one spelt word modernized) from Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage by Lord Byron.

Mark Twain, born just a decade after Byron’s death, tinkered it into this :

On with the dance, let joy be unconfined, is my motto; whether there’s any dance to dance or any joy to unconfine.

That has its charm, but I think Wallace, at least here, now, seems to embody the Byron.

Bless this child of the mind… and the mind that fathers him forth

And Spud wants to be invisible at the moment.

They should be joining in!

I’m taking notes but I don’t think I’ll be as graceful. Wallace is unique.

To each their own I say – if you don’t care if others see you, be you. If you would rather not be a spectacle – be Spud.

I expect that the townsfolk know what to expect of Wallace, and enjoy seeing what he comes up with each day.

Also a good way to keep yourself warm in the winter.
