Chekhov’s rotten egg has been introduced, but Sterling’s the wild card in the story.

Sterling is always “open,” but the eggs still splat Spud in the face anyway. But, it’s ok. Sterling doesn’t mind licking them off.

Corndog! How could anyone not love it. Man of a thousand rap names.

    There’s so much here.

Panel 2, the noble dog, the faithful companion, ready help in time of trouble, tail wagging. (Does guarding this field make him a corn-dog?) Mr. Corn Farmer. Rotten eggs. Smiley emoji. Those flecks at the tail of the speech balloon? A graphic representation of Wallace’s watchful concern? (Or not. My imagination on overdrive, probably.)

Panel 1, five mini-portraits of our kidlings, five iconlets revelatory of some essential trait of each little person.

Panel three. I’m seeing three personalities in interself consultation. Wallace and Spud are clearly themselves. And Rose? Gertrude Stein, calling for a closer look at what always seems obvious, said Rose is Rose.

A psychologist could hand (so many of) these images to a client and ask What do you see here? What’s going on? in lieu of using Rorschach blots as windows on the heart.

A comic with real backgrounds! I even get the secluded feel of being tucked into a little private hideout – it’s great! The little warm-up egg toss is really nice too.

No seagull. He must know the eggs are about to fly.

I’m picturing a western-type showdown but instead of guns it’s rotten eggs and one of the duelers is a kid.

This farmer and the grandma from Cul-De-Sac can debate/discuss which is the better projectile – rotten eggs or deviled eggs.

I was wondering if corn could grow in Maine and not only will it grow, but Maine has a history of very good Sweet Corn which is especially good for commercial canning.

Things have changed since I farmed. Don’t remember having time to guard the cornfield and carry a bucket around…

This guy planted right up to the porch. I’ve seen fields like that. I think he’s enjoying his sport during lunch break.

Either the farmer’s field gets a regular number of intruders or the farmer sucks at keeping fresh eggs.
