I would be somewhere in between as l would like to communicate with them……

I’d say, “did you lose a bet?”

To be fair, I’m sure the aliens don’t have their abductees start off the conversation with a knock-knock joke very often, so Wallace would at least be shaking up what is probably a dull routine for them.

I think I’d use sarcasm to bewilder them. Something like: I see you all lost at a game of “Got your nose!”

Sterling’s would be “Pull my finger!”

Excellent plan. Most alien beings that I have met love a good “knock knock” joke.
