Spud is so lucky to have Wallace as a true friend

Wallace: “In hindsight, I should have brought a bigger rock. Here Spud, you take the stick to hold off the squid, and I’ll see if there are any other rocks. Try to hold out as long as you can…”

Poor Spud is getting his feet muddy. Love the little splish and Seagull’s ta-da.

They’re further out than anyone has gone before? How long before the tide starts coming in?

All I could hear was Amelia every time Spud said something in the first 3 panels! I could even picture Spud and Amelia fist bumping in the second panel, had she been along!

Are there a lot of coyotes that hang out in estuaries?

A) Does Wallace intend to fight the coyote off with a stick?

B) Does he intend to throw the stick and shout “Fetch!” to the coyote?

At least he has two of the Deathly Hallows, the Wand and the Stone.

Looks like a little remnant of Atlantis in the third panel!

I’d be more concerned about the Quick Mud!

I’d be more worried about the tide coming in, but might be worth it for an incredible sunset.

Seagull says, “Ta da”. Heh-heh. Heh.

Everyone knows the squids can’t get up on the mud flats.

Fun fact – my home town was originally called Bare Cove because of the mud flats at low tide.

What a magical place. I wonder what kind of Coyote live in there.

OK, what is that item by Spud’s feet in 3 of the panels?

At petrified forest state park they had cheery signs of a sun telling you to stay in your car after dark. Then in small print underneath it said "or the coyotes might eat you ". I took a picture to prove it.

Thank God that he is prepared for the Squid…..

That makes me really nervous. The low tide flats out here in the Pacific Northwest can be muddy and people can sink fast.

Coyotes are mostly harmless. Spud’s head alone is bigger than most things they’d eat.

GREAT COLORS!!

Makes me think of Hunstanton Beach, on the Eastern shore of The Wash, I think, which gets the last of the evening sun. Very flat and shallow, so the tide goes a long way out, and back in pretty quickly. The wet sand is great to walk on.

Spud knows to savor every sunset, in case it’s his last.

I love to live where Wallace lives can sombody tell me if it’s inspired from a real town

What’s missing in this strip is the smell of the mudflats. Mmm… decaying seaweed and shellfish.
